We created this ribbon using a meticulous multi-step process. We start by dyeing silk in a color bath made from dyer's chamomile. Next, we prepare the silk for our steaming process, where we roll in petals from our garden's peonies, coreopsis, lilies, and daisies.
Like magic, the flowers blend with the silk and emerge as a green base with amber flower markings. Adding more allure, we dip the silk into our light indigo dye bath. This adds a hint of blue that shimmers and shifts in the light. It's almost impossible to name - a color shifter - sage green, sea foam blue? With gray undertones, it’s a mysterious and alluring color that can’t be ignored.
The base hue is sage green with hints of blue and gray undertones. Botanical markings in amber, gold, rose gold.

Plant Dyes are more subtle and complex than those created by synthetic dyes. You are purchasing a "living color" that is unique and one-of-a-kind. While each lot of color is dyed in the same manner, with the same plant materials, slight variations & unique characteristics will make each ribbon special. Each ribbon is wound on a antique style wooden spool. 100% Habutai Silk Bias Ribbon. Silk weight 12mm.
Care
Our habutai silk ribbons are washable and reusable! Machine wash separately gentle cycle/cold, or hand wash. Use mild pH neutral soap, plant dyes are "living" color that can be shifted by chemicals and drastic changes in pH. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. Iron when just barely damp on medium heat on the back side of the fabric.
