Botanical Print no. 41
BOTANICAL PRINT no. 41 is full of edginess. We use a "direct contact" dyeing method where marigold flowers are rolled into the silk and steamed for hours. Then, the silk is wrapped around rusty objects and re-dyed in the marigold dyebath. The result is oddly interesting, and almost like an animal print.
The base is a khaki green with black markings and rusty swirls throughout.
Each ribbon is one-of-a-kind and truly unique. Each ribbon varies in the markings they have.
Micro-batch. Limited Edition.
"Seconds" ribbons have slight flaws.
Plant Dyes are more subtle and complex than those created by synthetic dyes. You are purchasing a "living color" that is unique and one-of-a-kind. While each lot of color is dyed in the same manner, with the same plant materials, slight variations & unique characteristics will make each ribbon special. Each ribbon is wound on a antique style wooden spool. 100% Habutai Silk Bias Ribbon. Silk weight 10mm.
Our habutai silk ribbons are washable and reusable! Machine wash separately gentle cycle/cold, or hand wash. Use mild pH neutral soap, plant dyes are "living" color that can be shifted by chemicals and drastic changes in pH. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry.
