Botanical Print no. 46
BOTANICAL PRINT no. 46
This ribbon brings Spring to life. Pale yellows and corals seamlessly blend as a base color. This botanical print ribbon has mostly subtle markings, but occasionally there are more pronounced botanical prints.
The soft botanical markings are created from an assortment of flowers; tulips, peony, poppy, roses, ranunculus, and more! See the image of the dried florals below.
This ribbon is created using a "direct contact" dyeing method where dried flowers are rolled into the silk, then steamed for hours to make a lasting imprint. This dyeing method creates a truly unique ribbon where each and every ribbon is one-of-a-kind.
NOTE / in the dyeing process splashes of cochineal (hot pink) from a neighboring dye project got into the silk, creating hot pink speckles. Most are subtle surprises, and some are more pronounced with pink speckles throughout. See images below.
Each ribbon varies in the markings they have.
Micro-batch. Limited Edition.
Plant Dyes are more subtle and complex than those created by synthetic dyes. You are purchasing a "living color" that is unique and one-of-a-kind. While each lot of color is dyed in the same manner, with the same plant materials, slight variations & unique characteristics will make each ribbon special. Each ribbon is wound on a antique style wooden spool. 100% Habutai Silk Bias Ribbon. Silk weight 12mm.
Our habutai silk ribbons are washable and reusable! Machine wash separately gentle cycle/cold, or hand wash. Use mild pH neutral soap, plant dyes are "living" color that can be shifted by chemicals and drastic changes in pH. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. Iron when just barely damp on medium heat on the back side of the fabric.
