Botanical Print No. 79
Create a unique display on your bridal bouquet with botanical print ribbons.
Burgundy and yellow Iris, Dyers Chamomile, and a few marigolds, all grown in our garden, are rolled into the silk and steamed to create an array of botanical prints. Blue markings come from the burgundy in the irises! After the markings are created, the silk returns to a dye bath of vibrant yellow-green created with a combination of blue and yellow pigments.
While all ribbons come from the same dye bath, the differences between each ribbon can be quite drastic. The number of markings on each ribbon can vary from a few markings to a watercolor of yellow and blue prints. See images for a range of possible botanical prints.
Each ribbon is unique and markings vary on each ribbon.
A unique adornment for your custom bridal bouquet.
Plant Dyes are more subtle and complex than those created by synthetic dyes. You are purchasing a "living color" that is unique and one-of-a-kind. While each lot of color is dyed in the same manner, with the same plant materials, slight variations & unique characteristics will make each ribbon special. Each ribbon is wound on a antique style wooden spool. 100% Habutai Silk Bias Ribbon. Silk weight 12mm.
Our habutai silk ribbons are washable and reusable! Machine wash separately gentle cycle/cold, or hand wash. Use mild pH neutral soap, plant dyes are "living" color that can be shifted by chemicals and drastic changes in pH. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. Iron when just barely damp on medium heat on the back side of the fabric.
