Plant Dyed Silk Ribbons

Craftsmanship & Sustainability

Each ribbon is hand-dyed in small batches using natural dyes drawn from plants, flowers, bark, and other elements of the earth. Our spools are handcrafted in the USA from wood sourced from responsibly managed forests, then hand-dyed in-studio with natural stains. The process is slow and deliberate — gardens are tended, dye pots steep, and patient hands inspect and roll each ribbon spool. The result is more than an adornment; it is an heirloom, designed to be cherished, reused, and passed on.

Natural Variation

Because each ribbon is hand-dyed with plant-based materials, slight variations in tone, marbling, and botanical markings are natural — the perfectly imperfect signature of nature's hand. Color batches may shift gently with the seasons, and no screen can fully capture the in-person depth of plant-dyed silk. We treasure these subtle variations in shade from batch to batch for the custom feel they bring, yet we know some projects call for consistency. If you'd prefer a uniform tone across a larger order of ribbons, reach out, and we'll happily customize your order to match. CONTACT US HERE

Sample Swatches: To help you find the perfect shade, sample swatches are available. Each sample measures 1.5 inches wide by 9 inches long and is presented on a simple card.

Bias-Cut Silk Ribbons

Our plant-dyed silk ribbons are cut on the bias, a technique that gives silk its soft, flowing drape and makes it ideal for wrapping bouquets, styling decor, and finishing gifts.

A bias cut means the fabric is cut diagonally across the grain at a 45-degree angle, rather than straight along it. This single detail changes how the silk behaves and is what sets our ribbons apart. Each 3-yard ribbon includes one seam, a handcrafted feature that reflects its artisanal origin. While we strive to place the seam near the center, its location may vary slightly.

Why the bias cut matters

  • Natural stretch: Cutting across the grain gives the silk a gentle give, so it flexes rather than resists.
  • Fluid drape: Each ribbon falls with a soft, natural movement.
  • Conforms to curves: The diagonal weave lets the silk wrap around rounded and irregular shapes without creasing or buckling.

Ideal uses

  • Bridal bouquet ribbon

  • Bridesmaid bouquet styling

  • Florist bouquet wraps

  • Wedding invitation suite styling

  • Ring box and place setting accents

  • Flat lay and editorial styling

  • Luxury gift wrapping and event details

Care

Our silk ribbons are made to last, so you can keep them as keepsakes or reuse them for years to come. With a little care, they hold their natural color and soft drape through every use.

Classic, Satin, Sheer & Taffeta Silk Ribbons

These ribbons can be hand-washed at home when needed.

  • Hand-wash: Gently wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral natural laundry soap. Machine washing contributes to the ribbon fraying on the edges.
  • Protect the color: Plant dyes are living colors. Harsh cleaning chemicals and sudden pH changes can shift their tone, so stick to gentle, neutral soap.
  • Remove water carefully: Don't wring or twist. Press out excess water with a clean towel.
  • Dry flat or hang: Lay flat or hang to air dry. Keep ribbons out of prolonged sunlight to preserve their natural hues.
  • Press smooth: Use a medium-heat iron or steamer for a smooth finish.

To refresh ribbons and remove creases: Lightly spritz with water, then steam or iron on medium heat once nearly dry.

Pro tip: A hair flat iron works well for quickly smoothing ribbons and creating a flawless, wrinkle-free finish.

Ethereal, Gossamer, Organza Silk Ribbons

These ribbons are delicate and need extra care.

  • Dry clean only: Dry cleaning preserves their fine, airy weave.
  • Hand washing: Hand-washing is possible, but it can alter the delicate structure of these hand-loomed ribbons.
