Description

COLOR STORY: Old World Chartreuse is a color that refuses to sit still. It's a citrusy hue that feels alive, a shifting shade that you really have to see in person to fully understand. It captures that tricky, beautiful moment when a piece of fruit is just turning ripe—full of energy but still holding onto its earthy roots.

The process of creating Old World Chartreuse is a bit of a journey. We start by hand-dyeing the silk with chlorophyllin, an extract from dark leafy greens. Once that base is set, we over-dye it with marigold flowers. It’s this layering of nature’s own pigments—mixing a vibrant teal green with the warmth of mustard yellow—that gives us such a bold citrus tone with a distinct vintage feel.

What makes Old World Chartreuse so special is how much of a color shifter it is. It plays with the colors around it in a really fascinating way. Place it next to green, and you’ll see the yellow notes sing; pair it with yellow or darker hues, and the green undertones step forward. It manages to feel both antiqued and contemporary at the same time, bridging the gap between old-world charm and modern vibrancy.

Care

CLASSIC, SATIN, SHEER SILK RIBBONS: Our ribbons are thoughtfully crafted with longevity in mind, designed to be cherished as keepsakes or used and reused for years to come. If cleaning is necessary, gently hand-wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral natural laundry soap. Plant dyes are "living" colors that can be shifted by chemicals and drastic changes in pH. Avoid wringing or twisting; instead, press out excess water with a clean towel. Lay flat or hang to air dry, keeping them away from direct sunlight to preserve their rich, natural hues. For a smooth finish, use a medium-heat iron or steamer.

To refresh ribbons and remove creases or wrinkles, lightly spritz with water and, when nearly dry, steam or iron on medium heat. Pro Tip: A hair flat iron makes an excellent tool for quickly smoothing ribbons and ensuring a flawless, wrinkle-free presentation.

ETHEREAL, GOSSAMER, ORGANZA, TAFFETA SILK RIBBONS: These ribbons are delicate and require extra care. Dry cleaning is recommended to preserve their fine, airy weave, as hand washing may alter their delicate structure.
